Motocross Risk Racing Holeshot PracticeAs any motocross racer will tell you, getting a good start makes winning a race a whole lot easier. It's not rocket science when you think about it. If you start in front of, rather than behind 20 other guys, that's just fewer racers you have to get past to get to the podium.

Simulating race starts when you're riding alone is a difficult task. The whole variable of not knowing when the gate will drop is hard to simulate if you actually know when the gate will drop. Risk Racing's Holeshot Practice Gate is a relatively cheap solution this dilemma.

The individual starting gate utilizes a wireless remote button attached to your crossbar and electronically synced to the gate. When you press the trigger a green light turns on. You then have two seconds to get your hands back on the bars before the red light turns on. Once that light starts blinking, you have between one and five seconds before the gate drops and you drop the hammer. Pretty handy if you are working on your timing. It's totally random each time, and if you can convince a couple buddies to buy their own Holeshot Practice Gates you can even link them up to all drop at the same time.

This practice gate combines the simple mechanics of a starting gate with modern technology. Even though it's meant for dirt bikes, it is a piece of electronic equipment. As such, it would probably be wise to keep the rain and the mud exposure to a minimum.
