Motion Pro Fork Seal Driver Sure sounds like a riddle doesn't it: Name a thing you can't live without, might use only once every few years, and is generally useless for anything else. Any DIY-er will immediately grasp this as the description of a specialized tool. Typically expensive because demand is low, specialty tools are still both sanity and time savers, as they aid in preventing you from destroying what you're trying to fix.

If you spot a smear of oil on your motorcycle's fork leg, or notice a small leak coming from beneath the fork boot, it's time to replace your fork seals ASAP. Yes, both of them. Fork seals are inexpensive and usually in stock at most shops. They are the weakest point on a motorcycle's front-end assembly, and you want to be sure when replacing them that they're seated properly and without damage. Too often, these used to be difficult conditions to attain.

And then came the Motion Pro fork seal driver. It's essentially a collar in two pieces, one side with four machined holes, the other side with four machined posts, and when pressed together creating a perfect surface for driving in a fork seal. These are available in eight sizes, from 35mm to 48mm, allowing you to safely pummel a variety of fork seals. Made from carbon steel and cadmium plated, with a knurled outer wall for good grip, this tool has a solid heft to it and should last forever. Moderately expensive for a useful dust-collector, but you already knew that. The one major improvement they could make would be to make it both adjustable and calibrated, so you wouldn't have to buy each individual size to fit different makes of bikes.
