They've devoted themselves to the perfection of a single product. TCX, an Italian company, has a new line of high-tech racing boots for the 2009 U.S. market. The Competizione S is a member of this new generation of footwear.
I'm going to dig right into the meat, because this is a racing boot. This CE-certified boot has passed rigorous testing for impact, abrasion, and cut resistance. While there are tons of features that I will touch on, the TCS system is by far what sets the TCX S ahead of the competition.
The Torsion Control System, or TCS, is a polyurethane frame that extends up the back of the calf and to the toe. Allowing for both lateral and longitudinal movement, the frame prevents overextension and acts to protect the heel.
A breathable Air Tech lining and a reinforced antibacterial midsole cooperate to offer comfort and protection. The shin plate is polyurethane with an iron mesh insert. Zippers, Velcro closures, and elastics keep the boots held firmly to your feet, and a polyurethane shift pad protects the boots from wear.
The Competizione S comes in black, red, white, or blue. Style is important to some riders, and the functional construction of these boots gives them an uncompromising appearance. Truly a top-of-the-line racing boot, TCX has outdone themselves with superior product testing and racer feedback. The price reflects the quality.
