TCX X-Cube All Purpose Motorcycle Boots At last, a boot you can wear to work or school and not have to pack shoes to change into. TCX's X-Cube will likely help drive motorcycle boot designs toward a new and heretofore unheard-of versatility. And not that boots these days are uncomfortable -- far from it -- but this approach could lead a welcome trend toward all-day wearability, as well as highly-protective motorcycle foot gear.

The X-Cube boot comes with malleolus protection; the extra strap-looking thing coming up from the sole covers your malleoli, or ankle bones. This same strap serves as ankle support, too. The upper is made of suede and Air Tech fabric. Air Tech is a polyester fiber that breathes well and is quite strong, but take note that this boot is water-resistant, not waterproof. The combination of Velcro closures and shoelaces make for a comfortable and more adjustable fit. Its insides are lined with an anatomically-shaped and replaceable foot-bed insert, while the whole structure is supported by a durable low-tread sole intended for all-purpose use. X-Cube boots are essentially a high-tech, high-topped, and reinforced athletic shoe.

TCX, formerly Oxtar, is an Italian company previously owned by Nike. Now under the Aksia Group umbrella, TCX is devoted to motorcycle boot research and development. Long a presence in Europe and other countries outside the U.S., and known for a top-quality product at very reasonable prices, TCX's new mission is a more cutting-edge approach to the world market. It'll be interesting to see what they come up with next.
