Every class of machine comes with its own style that works its way into accessories or bits of ride-specific apparel. Although there is always crossover, you can see trends. Sport machines have lots of color, sharp angles, and are composed of numerous synthetic materials. Cruisers have leather, black, red, curves, chrome, and comfort. Scooters... well, they have cute covered.
I'm not being condescending to scooter riders. I don't mean fluffy kitten cute, but clever cute. Have a look at scooter-specific helmets and you'll see a lot of clever designs that embrace the shape to create to the look rather than decals.
Jafrum's open face scooter helmet has a well-rounded shape with a wide face shield. The style is derived from early European scooter helmet designs. The shield is removable and flips up if you want to take a break. There are adjustable vents on the forehead. Small and light, this helmet is constructed of fiberglass and is DOT approved.
There are some obvious drawbacks, but they depend on your personal need for safety and style. The design is noisy by nature, and I personally wouldn't buy this much bucket without a chin bar. You already have your whole head nearly covered; you might as well throw that extra piece on. This would, however, take away that cute scooter style. For about $40 you're not going to go broke, but I also wouldn't go 80 mph. I hear these run small, so go with a trusted vendor who you know will let you make returns easily.
