The Matrix Concepts Orange Phatty Tie-Down Set is a much better product to use instead of rope when it comes to transporting your motorcycle by truck or cargo van.
First of all, there is a soft loop at the top of the tie-down that works great for wrapping around the handlebars -- no more trying to strap a metal hook around some place on the forks that might scratch or bend something. The bottom is a spring-loaded carabineer that swivels, which is really helpful for those of us that are a little prone to twisting up tie-downs.
