Xena XN10 Disk Lock

Bike Security Alarm

Xena XN10 Disk Lock w/ AlarmFinally, someone has devised a security system for motorcycles that doesn't make the rider look paranoid. The tiny XN10 disk lock by Xena Security USA has what any security system ought to: an ear-piercing 110 dB alarm triggered by shock and motion.

What makes the XN10 so sophisticated is its look as well as its technology. The XN10 has is constructed of stainless steel and is only a couple inches in length. As the name suggests, the lock fits over your disk and secures with a 10 mm carbide-reinforced, hardened steel pin. It's always embarrassing to have your alarm gong off nonstop because someone just bumped harmlessly into your bike, so the XN10 will reset within 15 seconds if the movement has stopped.

This is an all-weather lock, so don't fret about corrosion. So many alarm systems are blocky, brightly colored, or ugly. Just because you don't want someone to steal your machine doesn't mean you don't want them to enjoy the view. This lock will go unnoticed on your bike unless someone tries to abscond with it, so it's a great lock to bring to shows, or just for showing off.

I have two opinions regarding bike security: I think you should either bolt your bike down with huge chains and intimidating padlocks until it looks like too much work to steal, or keep your security devices hidden until their services are required. I would lean toward the latter for general use, since carrying all those chains can really weigh you down.

  1. Digital Guard Dawg | Type 1 Motorcycle Security Alarm RFID Says:

[...] The downside of this product is that it is an alarm. It will make a lot of noise. Technology has come a long way since the first car alarms, and frankly no one really pays any attention to car alarms anymore except to wonder when in the world the owner is going to get there to turn that dang noise off. It could be amusing if a Guard Dawg goes off outside a bar and 50 guys come piling out, all looking to whup somebody's ass. But barring that, in addition, there are now other similar products selling for quite a bit less than the $169 a pop for the Guard Dawg… like Xena bike alarms. [...]
