I've been itching to get out for a fall camping trip lately. Perhaps it's because the weather is growing colder and I know the riding season will soon be ending. Either way, it's time to throw a bag on my bike and hit the road for a few days. If you are also affected by this migratory urge, you'll need a bag.
Tour Master's Deluxe tail bag is large enough to carry everything you need for a weekend, even in the cold weather when the layers are thicker. Constructed of heavy-duty nylon, this bag's dimensions are 21 inches long, 12 inches wide, and 10 inches high. That's even long enough for a tent.
The Deluxe bag mounts with built-in bungees and can be carried away with an angle-mounted shoulder strap or a reinforced carry handle. All that stuff you need for your weekend getaway should be easy to find with four exterior pockets and one big easy-to-access main compartment with a tricot lining. Reflective logos should make you more visible now that the light is fading earlier and earlier.
All this space does cause some problems. The Deluxe tail bag is a bit big for its britches, or, more accurately, its bungees. This bag can hold a lot, and that stuff gets to weigh a lot, but the straps don't hold it as well as you'd hope. I would throw some extra straps over it to make sure it stays in position. Also, make sure this bag is not mostly empty, because it will sag. For the price, this is a decent bag with lots of space, but it's not perfect.
