Cobra's driveshaft cover hides the manufacture's neglect of this particular part of the machine, which is often on the drab side. Cobra, as is expected, saw a surface that could have been more than it was and made it shine. This is also a boon if you have scratched or otherwise neglected this stretch of metal.

Constructed of steel and covered in chrome, the Cobra driveshaft cover is polished to a frictionless fluid sheen before it finds its way to your door. This bit of beauty is made in these United States and you can probably find one to fit your machine even if it was made on the other side of the world. Installation only takes a few minutes, but you'll probably want to give yourself more time for that back-step and subsequent admiration.

For around $50, you will improve the overall look of your bike, if chrome is your goal. If you don't really have much other chrome, it'll stand out awkwardly. The Cobra cover is one of those pieces that I can talk up to the heavens, because it's entirely fluff. There's no real need to buy it, but you very well might want to anyway.

The fluted dash plaque will bring the breath of life to your tank. Where once was a baron landscape of plastic that only a manufacturer could love, you will find the chrome shine that better reflects the heart of the machine. The plaque is plug-and-play and will install with hand tools. You wouldn't be remiss to make a mental note of your indicators before removing the old plate.

You may have a question knocking around in your brain box: "Do I need this?" The answer is probably in the negative. You do not need this lovely, shiny panel. Should you have the extra cash lying in the bank doing nothing for nobody, you might want to consider sending a measly $30 over to the hardworking folks at Cobra. In return, they will send you this plaque, and you will make strides in creating a unity of design for your tank and your whole machine.

The idea of the book was that we process things so quickly that we can recognize details regardless of whether we're aware of it. So, if you don't want someone to subconsciously determine that you're a neglectful bike owner, you'll pay attention to those details.

A backrest insert can improve the look of your bike in a way that might be consciously imperceptible, but will tie together your bike's beauty. Honestly, the back of the rest is usually less than attractive, and covering it with a piece of chrome plated steel can significantly improve the overall appearance.

Now, this is trivial compared to engine function or big rusty holes but, if you're otherwise an attentive rider, these small parts are a way to demonstrate your diligent care of your machine. No one will know that your engine is tuned perfectly, that your wiring is tucked neatly, or that you lovingly clean the mud out from under the fender. They will notice that all your bits of metal and leather fit together seamlessly.

That's detail for you. Each piece is not significant, but they all contribute to the resulting whole. That's not to say you need this little chunk of metal specifically, and it is a bit pricy for what it is, but it certainly couldn't hurt.

They catch the eye no matter what angle you're looking at the bike from. A band of curved, shiny chrome looping around and framing the engine. Cobra's 1.25-inch freeway bars are a great example of a great accessory. The angles are not overly dramatic, and the thick-wall steel is strong enough to protect your engine and foot controls if you drop your bike. I always cringe a little when I see a boxer without bars.

To complete the aesthetic, Cobra's bars are deeply chromed. The chrome is, of course, practical for durability as well as that primal "oh, shiny!" moment. The bars themselves, like all freeway bars, are very useful for an alternative foot rest, or to attach pegs, lights, bags, etc.

Cobra is a company that will take care of their customers, and their accessories are made in America, but they are not cheap. Cobra's price for these bars is around $190. You can find them for sale with some vendors but, if you really can't spare the extra cash, there are cheaper bars out there.

Cobra still proudly makes all of their accessories in the United States. You can probably find cheaper light bars, but you're unlikely to get the quality, service, and pride that comes with Cobra accessories.

Seriously, not sporting a spark arrestor is a bad idea, and only gives all the environmentalists more ammo in their fight to shut down more acres of public land.

That being said, aftermarket exhaust systems are not cheap, especially if you ride a four-stroke. Aftermarket spark arrestors can easily reach up into the $500-$800 range.

Enter the Cobra Sparky. Designed for the budget conscious and those that may only dabble in the off-road experience, this puppy easily attaches to the back of almost any exhaust on almost any bike.

US Forest Service approved, the Cobra Universal Spark Arrestor promises spark-free riding with no power loss. The opening is 2 1/4 inches wide and bolts on using a simple metal hose clamp. Take a little extra care when clamping this on, though, as this method of attachment is by no means perfect. It would probably be worth it to check it out on the trail a few times as well.

Now let's be honest: this thing isn't gonna win you or your bike any beauty contests. It is an eyesore to say the least. For what it does though, and the relatively low cost, it's a pretty attractive deal.
