Last year I came to the end of a long trip and the skies were darkening with rain clouds. I pulled my cover out and tried to get it over the the top without touching the pipes. I failed. While adjusting one side the cover had fallen over, the other was was rapidly melting to my exhaust. Now, my cover has a hole, the chrome on my pipes has a scratch from my hasty attempt at scraping off the goo, and I feel like an idiot every time I see either.

This was all a comedy of errors that you may never experience, but why risk it? Half covers go over everything that counts, and you won't have to wait for your bike to cool down. This camouflage half cover is made by Formosa Covers. Formosa specializes in things that shelter.

Constructed of Weatherguard polyester and UV treated, your bike will be safe from damage in rain or shine. There won't be any sun damage cracking on the cover itself, and it will protect against wind-kicked dirt, sap, and bird crap. The double stitched seams are tough nylon thread, and a soft cloth chamois on the front and rear contact points shield your bike from scratches. Venting prevents rust-causing moisture, and an elastic hem with adjustable D-ring straps can help prevent theft.

Technically, Formosa's camo half cover is designed for the Goldwing and will fit one perfectly, but it can be used with other bikes as well. At 75 inches long, you can probably secure this around most any machine. It's even made to fit over a windshield. The list price is about $70, but I've seen it for sale at less than half of that.

Where I grew up there were miles and miles of woodlands with ill-tended 2-tracks snaking throughout them. You could ride off into the forest and not see another human for hours. Most popular sports involved guns, and most popular clothing was camouflage.

Many of THH's helmets are designed with flaming skulls and other such edgy graphics, but they also have something for us backwoods kids who like to blend in with our natural surroundings. The Camo pattern of this Motocross helmet is not the only option (there are 10 designs and colors), but it brings me back to my youth of bombing around the trails.

Enough about colors and patterns. The helmet itself has a DOT-approved lightweight thermoplastic alloy shell. Perfect for riding rough, the mouthpiece and venting system are anti-scratch and replaceable, should you manage to destroy them. The visor, liner, and cheek pads are also replaceable. THH obviously expects you to be doing some serious damage out there. An integrated goggle grabber is included to make sure you're doing that riding safely. Eyes are not replaceable!

A full range of youth and adult sizes are available and the price is unquestionably good. Some of THH's motocross helmets have earned Snell approval, but this one has not. Most people I talk to say DOT approval is plenty, but you should take a moment to think about upgrading, especially if you're buying a youth model.

The look is exactly what you would expect of Icon. Sharp angles and dramatic contrast provide style and visibility on the road. Color options include blue, red, camo, and black. Icon refers to the black version as "stealth," as this is the only choice that drops the dramatic contrast and fully embraces the look of a traditional leather jacket.

To say Power Trip's Army Alpha Motorcycle Jacket is unique is an understatement. Officially licensed by the U.S. Army, this baby screams testosterone and has a style all its own.

The military-influenced style is pretty easy to see as it has one arm that is decked out in camo and a huge Army logo on the back. It is definitely an acquired look, but the materials used are totally up to spec. The exterior of the jacket is made from heavy-duty 500D Hitena nylon. It also has C.E. rated protectors in the shoulders and elbows as well as a removable spine pad.

What really makes this jacket stand out are some its more intuitive features. There are two large hidden reflector panels on the front and a huge one on the back that you can roll out and Velcro down for a shock-and-awe boost of increased invisibility at night. There are also snap loops so you can attach the jacket to your belt, a handy mp3 player pocket, and a pop-out ID holder so you don't have to fumble with your wallet in the event that you need quick access to such a thing. The Alpha jacket also has plenty of venting and a removable liner to easily transition from summer to winter riding.
