Cruiser seats and motocross seats are different animals. One is meant to cushion you for hours and hours of lazily sitting, and the other is for the short, hard ride. Cruisers baby their seats, covering them in inclement weather, whereas the motocross riders are willfully abusive to themselves and their equipment, subjecting their seats to mud and wet. You've got to love these folks.
SDG USA manufactures a replacement seat for the rough and tumble. Their tall seat adds about 1 inch over the stock seat, and this small amount can make the rider feel a little less cramped, especially for those who have long legs.
Constructed of a nylon composite, the SDG replacement seat provides strength and resistance. So much resistance, in fact, that it's going to take a few hours to break it in and make it fit right. Although some riders think this seat is too hard, don't be distraught if it doesn't snap onto your bike in perfect harmony, give it time.
Closed-cell foam offers water resistance and reduces foam breakdown for a longer lasting seat. The gripper cover delivers, providing more control and less slipping. If you intend to race, you'll be happy to hear that the SDG replacement seat is lighter than stock.
Although this seat is race-tested and endorsed by motocross professionals, a seat is a personal thing. It is not recommended for oversized tanks, but otherwise most riders are happy with the firm resistance that helps control their machines with greater precision. It's also less expensive than stock, so that might seal the deal for the rider on a budget.
