Oakley Grapevine Womens Sunglasses Eye protection is really important when you're riding. No, really. It is. So don't do like I did and find yourself doing about 85mph along a riverside highway wearing cheap sunglasses (thank you, ZZ Top!), turn your head to the left to check traffic, and have your sunglasses whipped right off your face, leaving you to squint painfully for the next 40 miles until you got to an itty bitty town with a convenience store selling -- you know it -- cheap sunglasses.

Motorcyclists have lots of options for eye protection, from cheap sunglasses to vintage boggly-eyed aviator goggles. But there are sunglasses that provide protection from wind, bugs and road grit. Oakley is known for top of the line functional eye protection that is not only made to last and to do its job, but to look good as well. Oakley's Grapevine sunglasses have a feminine shape (their site says "the allure and sophistication of a uniquely feminine geometry.") But seriously, folks, they are made to flatter a woman's face while protecting the delicate skin around the orbital area. Manufactured from impact-resistant plutonite with High-Definition Optics for a clear wide peripheral view, they are sturdily made. They have integrated hinges and the Oakley icon is on both sides of the frame. The lenses offer 100% UV protection. They are lightweight and come in a soft microfiber pouch that doubles as a carrying pouch/cleaning cloth.

Having said all that, even though these sunglasses are on close-out and you can find them for about $78, which apparently is cheap for Oakleys, I am not convinced that they would offer the protection needed in a high-wind, high-speed situation - or that they would be guaranteed not to fly off your face on a river-side highway. They look perfect for wearing around the bike rally once you arrive.
