National Cycle Adjustable Windshield Kit

Windscreen Deflector DOT DX N2594

National Cycle Deflector ScreenThat cold wind coming at you will take a toll on your health as well as your comfort. There are lots of ways to deal with the changing weather when you want to keep riding. Stuffing a copy of Truck Paper in the front of your coat is one of the more inelegant measures.

National Cycle's Deflector Screen DX offers full adjustability of the screen angle. The rider will be free of the mid-body chill, and your face won't be taking the brunt just because you happen to be tall (a problem that I do not have). The adjustment takes a single wing screw and a radial-tooth mechanism locks it into place, so the ease of adjustment doesn't mean it'll readjust itself during the bashing breeze when you need it most.

Some of these fall days are cold at the edges but still give us some heat midday. The QuickSet hardware will let you remove this shield in seconds, according to National Cycle. This is a perk that doesn't come with the original Deflector.

You have the option of a 25 percent tint or clear, depending on how visible you want the shield to be. Able to fit handlebars of 7/8 of an inch, 1 inch, or 1.25 inches in diameter, these will mount with the included hardware and no drilling. The Deflector DX is constructed of DOT-approved high impact acrylic.

For about $100, you have your choice of a lot of shields. For those looking for a long term windshield, I would skip the quick-release mounting and maybe go for one a little bigger, but for the rider who usually goes without and wants to avoid a coat full of newspaper, it'll give you some cold weather comfort.
