History is something that you can't run away from, kind of like the deranged serial killer in your average horror flick. I should know. I've been trying to figure out how to escape some of the poor monetary decisions I've made in the past for quite some time now. Regardless, there are lots of parts of history that should be looked at, especially if it involves something you love, like motorcycles.
"Motorcycle: Evolution, Design, Passion" is one of those coffee table books that everyone will want to look at. Mick Walker is the author and he has compiled 224 pages of historical pictures and information on bikes from all generations of their existence. There are some technical drawings and other mechanically directed things, but the book promises not to put those to sleep who don't have any interest in those aspects of the motorcycle evolution. The book was published in 2006 and has some pretty good reviews, including one from The New Yorker.
I'm not implying that this is a definitive book on motorcycles by any means, but from what I can tell, Walker did his research. Even if you don't have any interest in reading it, the pictures of some of the early bikes themselves should be worth a look.
