SportVue MC2 | Digital Radar Detector

Motion Research SportVue MC2 HelmetAs your speed increases, small mistakes can turn into big mistakes. It's amazing how quickly a tiny error becomes a catastrophe. If you're running at race speeds, you don't want to be looking down at your speedometer just to impress yourself with how fast you can go, because in that split second you never know what's going to happen on the road in front of you.

The SportVue MC2 heads-up display lets you keep your eyes on the road and off of your indicators. SportVue products have been used by Susan Robertson, a world land speed record holder, for racing and day-to-day riding. The easy-to-read wireless unit will mount to your helmet and display speed in mph or kph, gear position, and rpm in real-time. There is also a radar detection feature, but you certainly wouldn't need to know when the cops are checking your speed, would you?

The MC2 will function in any light level and will get twenty or more hours of use on 2 AAA batteries. When correctly attached, the display will be in your peripheral field of view and won't impede your vision. Both installation and programming do take some time, but once it's ready you'll love the simplicity of it. SportVue gives you everything, and I mean everything, you need to install their system, from the instructions to the sandpaper (yes, you'll need sandpaper).

If you've got the money to invest, this system gives your eyes more time on the road. The MC2 is fantastic for racers, but also just fun if you're a fan of nifty gadgetry.

Another option is the Whistler Helmet Display Radar Detector.
