Ditch the passenger seat, strap on a case of beer, and hit the road. This is not a suggestion; it's is my own constant temptation. I get kind of ornery as the summer comes to a close, trying to use up the last scraps of good weather, fighting the encroaching hibernation instinct.
Motherwell's solo luggage rack will give you something (other than your fender) to strap a few things to as you ride off to unknown lands in your own desperate attempt to make the most of the waning season. The exterior frame of the Motherwell rack is your standard half-inch tubing, but the center rungs are 3/8-inch solid steel. That gives you more support and a stronger structure than many conventional racks.
At about 7 inches long, the Motherwell solo rack follows the lines of your fender. This isn't the best product if you want a flat base for some flat luggage, but it's superb if you want to maintain the graceful elegance of your bike's design.
Like all racks, this will make a fine contact point for attaching bags, or just strapping something down. For solo riders, this is a great way to prevent damage to your fender.
Motherwell makes it pretty clear that this rack won't work with Corbin seats, so if that's you, you're out of luck. Otherwise, this is one of the nicer-looking, tough little fender racks you can buy.
