No one wants to admit it, but folks who ride light on the personal protection gear are usually doing it for style. Some will claim tradition, but they are only functioning within the style of that tradition, and therefore it still falls down to looking good. Today, where there's so much concern about safety, looking good has gotten a bad name, but I'm not here to judge. Your level of gear is up to you, and if you want to go shirtless and look like a god of the road, that's your business.
Somewhere between cowhide and your hide is the Members Only lambskin jacket. This is not thick, tough leather for abrasion protection in a crash, but soft and supple lambskin from New Zealand.
A hip-length cut with snap cuffs, shirt-style collar, and a strap at the bottom leaves this jacket with a good fit and a style unique to leather jackets. It's nearly a combination of a '70s night club and a '50s greaser. The kind of combination that would otherwise sound apocalyptic in appearance ends up being pretty slick.
Three pockets and a polyester lining provide comfort and convenience. I would not go so far as to call this a riding jacket, but for those who ride light on gear any jacket is a riding jacket. Realistically, the lambskin will save your hide better than a T-shirt, but this jacket is all about style.
