Pursuit Cabretta Battlehide

Icon Pursuit Black Leather GlovesThe Pursuit is one of the more sophisticated designs I've seen as far as motorcycle gloves go. Lean and clean lines closely following the shape of the hand and covered knuckle protection make this one stand out. And it stands out from the rest precisely because it doesn't stand up and holler. This is -- arguably, of course -- a generally well-styled glove.

It's made from Pittard's sheepskin, a U.K.-based premium-quality leather company that specializes in the use of cabretta (skins from hairy sheep) sourced out of Ethiopa. And the gloves have a protective swatch of Battlehide goatskin across the palm. As near as I can tell, Battlehide is a (loosely) trademarked term used to describe goatskin placed in harm's way.

This model is available in five colors. The entire "chassis" (as Icon refers to the main body of the glove) is perforated for air flow and evaporation. However, it's not lined, so it's definitely not a cold-weather glove. There is a non-perforated version called the Pursuit Stealth which would be noticeably warmer, but it's still not a winter glove.

Sheepskin conforms well to the hand, and should add some confidence of grip while riding as well as the all-important abrasion protection. And the more you wear these moderately-priced gloves, the better they'll feel.
