Gorilla Automotive Motorcycle Pager Alarm | Digital LED 7017

Gorilla Automotive Motorcycle PagerHaving your motorcycle stolen is a serious issue. And parking where the bike is visible is sometimes difficult or impossible. Since secure and portable garages are a bit unrealistic at the moment due to the lag in current nanotechnology development, the next best things are locks of some sort, and maybe a pager alarm.

Pager alarms contact you if your bike is being moved or jostled in any way. They're motion sensing, shock sensing, and even current sensing. If the bike is fooled with, a 120db alarm (painfully loud) goes off on the bike, and the pager fob gives you a separate alarm as well. The range on model #7017, according to Gorilla Automotive, is about half a mile. Assuming your bike is fork-locked or somehow other-locked, chances are the thief will exit stage out-of-there. If not locked, at least you got notification your bike was leaving, and perhaps the noise will attract some attention from witnesses.

Gorilla Automotive's pager unit is pretty slick. The LED screen tells you what's occurring on your bike: whether it's in warn-away mode, if the bike is being tilted or bumped, or if the electrical system is being messed with. With its range indicator, you'll know if you're still in contact with the bike. It can be set to vibrate mode, and you can program up to three separate pagers per alarm in case you need that many.

The company claims these systems take about 30 minutes to install. Various forum users confirm it's easy to do, but actually might take around an hour to put together. Still, not bad.

For around two hundred dollars, this is a nice addition to bike security.
