Unless your name happens to be Superman, getting pelted by rocks blasting off the rear-tire of the guy in front of you really doesn't feel all that great. Not a lot of pros wear Chest, or "Roost" protectors these days but ask anyone who does and they will tell you it's a good investment and will likely have more than one story about how they avoided a nice golf ball sized bruise from a flying rock or a nasty welt from a tree branch while tearing through the woods.
