Fox Comp 5 Shorty Pit Bike Boots Pit bike racing means big fun on little bikes but don't think that just because those bikes are skimpy in size means you should skimp out on protection.

Fox's Comp 5 Shorty boot is a spin-off of its newly designed full-sized Comp 5 Boot and sports most of the same bells and whistles like the modern-look of the wrap-around, or race-bonded soles, and aluminum buckles.

Shorty boots are a relatively new concept in the motocross world. They were created to bridge the gap between the movement-restricting full sized MX boots and the protection-lacking, but flexible skate shoe's most riders were using. Shorty boots provide the best of both worlds.

While shorty boots like the Comp 5 promise all the comfort of a skate shoe, that's really a bit of a stretch. For all intents and purposes, they are a motocross boot cut in half. That being said, the ankle area of motocross boots is designed to be rigid and shorty boots are no exception. That is not necessarily a bad thing though. The Comp 5 has plenty of ankle and upper foot protection which will save you from plenty of burns and bruises as you are tearing around your mini bike on your mini track.

The Comp 5's sport a clean and modern look but don't expect to win any fashion shows if you wear them with shorts. They do offer up much more protection than any skate shoe and really are less restrictive than a full size boot. It's just a matter of if they fit your style.
