If there's one thing I know about people, it is that they are everywhere. There's no getting around each other, and we've got to learn to share the space we have. Not annoying the neighbors with a window-buzzing rattle as you ride the local track and trail is just polite. If you're not conscious of these things, don't be surprised when a neighborhood meeting you don't attend decides to petition for a sound ordinance, or worse yet, they might try to restrict where you can ride.
The Q series from FMF, a company known for their racing silencers, is one of the most quiet exhaust systems you can buy. With the Q2, your sound will be kept down around 93 dB, and you won't find your throttle response dampened. The Q2 is light -- lighter than the original Q -- but more relevant to your riding is the position. Designed to be close and central, the Q2 will tuck the weight in, rather than sticking out and back, so your handling will be controlled around the central mass.
A turbine spark arrestor means no screens, and an anodized aluminum canister won't embarrass you with its appearance. Some folks prefer zero maintenance, but I love a company that puts the control in my hands, and the Q2 is made to be repacked when you decide the sound is creeping up too high. For the quality and the market, FMF keeps their prices more than reasonable.
Another option for slip-on exhaust is the M2 CF adjustable exhaust kit by Two Brothers Racing.
