One of the things that I miss the most about being young is the ability to get up from falls without so much as a bruise and wanting to try the same stunt again that had me on the ground in the first place. The Thor Motocross Youth Phase Jacket is made out of super heavy-duty 1000 denier dura-poly construction. Basically, this jacket is not going to rip or tear because of a little spill. The sleeves zip off, though, and that can make it a little bit more comfortable for your little motorcycle stunt racer to keep it on while pulling the 360 spin on or off the hill. There are lots of pockets for all their iGizmos and cellular phones, too. The sleeves (when zipped on) are pre-curved for comfort, and the entire jacket is highly water resistant. Other little things like Velcro cuff gaitors and an interior drawstring waist closure help make this jacket great for young riders. It's available in Black, Blue, and Red colors, and there are 4 different sizes (small, medium, large, x-large) to help fit your kid correctly. Thundering from the heavens, the mighty Thor thrusts his magic hammer towards his foe. Mjölnir flies towards its target at unparalleled speed and force, but bounces off of the foot of the enemy. As his mighty jaw drops, the God of Thunder lets slip one word from his lips: "How?" But before an answer is given, the boot with his own name upon it strikes him in the face, and renders him unconscious.

The Thor 50/50 Boots may not actually be able to knock a Greek God senseless, but are mystical in the sense that they weigh just as much as a dozen extra large eggs. That's only 27 ounces for those of us who didn't grow up on the farm. Though they're light in the weight department, the 50/50 Boots are still pretty tough. They use a lightweight injection-molded outsole with a specific aggressive lug pattern to increase durability. They have a reinforced medial area with extra padding against the frame of the boot for added comfort, too. They're available in Black, Brown, and White and each contain adjustable "positive-lock" aluminum buckles. At less than half the weight of normal riding boots, these guys would work really well for anyone who has any leg or hip problems. They fit over the ankle fine, but are lacking in calf protection. If you want some taller boots, look at these armored Puma boots.

I began my motorcycle riding obsession over three decades ago on dirt bikes. To this day, I still ride in the dirt, and I still love it. However, there is one thing that has always stuck in my craw -- the overly trendy and gaudy nature of off-road riding apparel. Enter the Thor Motocross Static Pants. Can a pair of riding pants be all things to all riders? It seems that these pants can.

The cut is of the over-the-boot style (which I prefer). When the ride is over, you can simply zip off the lower pant-legs and you have a pair of shorts. That's a nice feature for cooling down after a long dirt ride. The pants offer other nice touches like a cordura nylon seat panel, double and triple needle stitching, and ballistic nylon inner leg panels for heat resistance.

So what was that about all things to all riders? Just take a look at the color and logo options. The pants come in understated, monochromatic themes for a boring guy like me. However, for you flashier types, the pants are also offered in a kind of star-studded camo motif as well as a wild paisley print. These are nice pants with a load of nice features.

Mens Thor Dual Sport Boots, Short | Motorcycle Offroad 50/50

Dual sport riding is a great compromise in the motorcycling world. It is growing in popularity for a number of reasons. Dual sport motorcycles can perform reasonably well in both dirt and street situations. However, this dual nature can create some interesting gear conundrums for the dual sport rider. This is especially true in the boot department.

Street boots protect well in asphalt situations but don't hold up well to the constant scrapes and gouges of rocks and branches in trail situations. On the other hand, motocross boots can be serious overkill in street and trail situations.

Thor's 50/50 boots bridge this gap well. They are an external buckle-type boot in a short style. The lack of shin protection will surely scare away serious off-road motorcyclists. However, they are not the target market for the boot. The boot is designed for moderate trail riding mixed with street duty. They are also a great choice for ATV riders. The footwear offers both on and off bike comfort (unlike motocross-specific boots).

The boots are offered in three color combinations: black, tan, and Attack (which is a white and red combination). The size offerings are men's 6-12 with no half sizes.

If you fit into the motorcycling demographic outlined above, you are going to like these boots.

Thor Quadrant Helmet | Motocross MX Polycarbonate Vented

Helmet branding is important. My natural inclination is to reject branding due to its relevance to status, which is a bunch of bull in my opinion. Branding, however, has function beyond that superficial stuff. It's a way to know that you're getting a good product without having to conduct crash tests in your garage, or worse, find out that it's not up to snuff when you need it most.

Thor helmets do have a price right up there with the front-runners, but they also deliver quality. The Quadrant motocross helmet is constructed of a lightweight polycarbonate shell. Do not let the weight fool you; this helmet is strong enough to have earned DOT and Snell approval.

The integrated mouthguard and venting system are designed to give you lots of airflow and carry the heat away from your head. Getting hot in the helmet can lead to disorientation and dehydration as well as discomfort. I've always been a little shocked and disgusted at how much you can sweat from the head.

Speaking of all that salty sweat, the liner is removable and washable so you won't have to live with the remnants of past rides. Of course, there is a molded goggle grabber to keep your eye protection, and therefor your eyes, in the right place.

Because Thor has made a name for themselves, some of what you're buying is that name. There's really no way around it; success means you get to charge more. That success is derived of quality, so you won't have to wonder if your helmet will do its job. On an up note about the price, with the 2010 models on their way, you might be able to find a sale. Thor Motocross Phase Jacket | Cordura Pre Curved in Black, Blue, Red

The son of Odin and the giantess Jord, Thor had a fairly successful career as a god. Later, when the Renaissance bloomed and all the credibility went out of the mythology biz, Thor was forced to begin casting about for something to do. As an immortal, time held little meaning for him, and so he pondered his next move for a few centuries. Eventually, of course, motorcycles were invented and Thor figured this was his opportunity. He started a company making gear and clothing for off-road riders, and still gets to use his hammer for testing out new products and materials for durability and strength.

Okay... not really.

The Phase jacket has some nice features. Exhaust vents on the upper back help keep you from overheating. The front zip is a two-way affair, handy if the jacket is a little long on you when in riding position. Both sleeves zip off and can be stored in the rear cargo pocket. It comes with pre-curved elbows, and this is helpful if you wear elbow protection under your jacket. If it's seriously cold outside, the jacket has a bottom drawstring that can be tied to block outside air. The collar and pockets are lined with fleece for comfort, and the cuffs have adjustable Velcro gaiters. Made from 1000 denier Cordura, it should hold up well against abrasion and tearing. You can get it in black, blue, or red.

Thor calls this jacket "water repellent". According to the forums I've read and from personal experience with another brand, just assume this means: if it rains, you'll get wet (keep in mind that waterproof jackets don't breathe as well, if at all). Also mentioned were fit and sizing issues -- as with any apparel selection, it's best to try it on before you buy it.

Thor Mens Motorcycle Sweatshirt Hoody, Nylon | Fleece Jacket Navigator Gray

A quality moto hoody is an essential piece of clothing every rider needs in order to properly compliment his image. Don't roll your eyes and act like you don't care about your image. Those gnarly graphics kits, unnecessary foam seat humps, and anodized valve stem caps aren't exactly performance mods. Don't get mad at me now for telling you the hard truth; for the vast majority of us, what we lack in speed we make up for in style. If you and your bike look fast, people will likely think you are fast. The same basic rule applies to your casual gear.

Now I'm not saying Thor's Navigator Hoody will make anyone believe you can hit a stadium triple, but it will let people know you are down with the motocross industry and care enough to support companies that support the sport. And while the Navigator's premium fleece construction, nylon accent panels, and utility-style slash pockets may essentially serve the same purpose as your dad's nappy old flannel from who-knows-when, you will not look nearly as fast rolling up to the track as you would if you were sporting this bad boy.
