The BT020 by itself, naked without a stripe, made a fair impression on the sport/touring world when it was released. Designed for that market, it is now the original equipment on a fair number of bikes from BMWs to Triumphs, and models from each of the Big Four are also well-represented.
These come with a Z rating for speeds over 149mph, while a few are W-rated, meaning up to 168mph. The tire is composed of a silica-rich compound which gives it more grip, while the manufacturer's intent was to create a high-mileage tire along with high performance. You'll want it to last, as the best deals on this tire are still well over $200.
And now, you can get this tire with whitewalls. Go ahead and build that old-style bobber you've always dreamed about, or, make a statement on your BMW R1200RT or Yamaha FZ6. And it's so much easier than trying to paint a whitewall on a black tire by yourself. But it's guaranteed to be a niche market, unless Bridgestone is way ahead of the next curve -- although I did find at least two other competitors who have a whitewall tire in their product line. Spiffy!
