BMC Air Filter Rechargeable

BMC Street Air FilterThere's little that can gum up the works like suffocating your bike. Not only will a bad or cheap air filter keep your bike from breathing, but I've known air filters that break up and send bits of junk into the engine. If you're lucky, a few oil changes will fix that, but it could do permanent damage to your bike.

So, don't use cheap air filters. That's simple enough. BMC, endorsed by Yoshimura, has been distributing motorcycle parts since 1973 and making air filters since 1995. They're well known in car racing and produce excellent street bike filters.

Now, they've come on the scene later than K&N and are still earning their place in the motorcycle community. Considering how skeptical riders are of new companies, it's a miracle anyone at all makes headway. BMC does not offer a nearly-lifetime warranty like K&N, and I think that is a big mistake -- but BMC filters are comparable in cost.

BMC Street air filters are rechargeable filters that deliver higher air flow than OEM. These are designed from street riding conditions. If you own a street bike, you probably won't find yourself on the dusty trail. It's best to get a filter designed for the kind of riding you actually do, and BMC has specified their filters for the street.

And, as always, filters by K&N are worth a look.
