Leather: it's for your senses -- even "sense-ual," as it were. Even the word "leather" has a nice feel and sound to it. And with this thick-skinned and slightly oversized Alpinestars jacket, you'll get a nice feel as well as the creaking sound of good, finished leather. Gotta love that smell, too.
The leather on the jacket's outer is 1.2 - 1.4mm deep, substantial enough to protect you through a fair degree of grinding. The seams have multiple stitchings, and it has a removable thermal inner vest liner. The sleeves have been pre-curved to aid in comfort of movement. The waist is adjustable, and a zipper is sewn in for connecting to specific Alpinestars textile or leather pants. The main panels of the jacket are perforated to help ventilation. Panels on the back of the neck are air mesh and contribute to further cooling at a crucial spot.
The Rod comes with CE-certified pads in the shoulders and elbows. As a bonus, you can purchase an RC back protector and/or a pair of Bionic chest pads for extra protection. The basic black is accented by two vertical stripes, and you can choose the color of your stripes to be red, white, or blue.
It's a good-looking and fairly rugged jacket, nicely understated and cleanly designed, as is much of Alpinestars' line of gear. And it's styled well enough to get you through the next couple of trends, at least, should you adhere to such.
